Accuser Faces Charges for Defrauding Bauer
LOS ANGELES (AP) — An Arizona woman who accused former major league pitcher Trevor Bauer of sexual assault has been charged with defrauding the baseball player.
According to court documents, the woman, identified as Mary Kay Donaldson, is accused of defrauding Bauer by means of fraudulent pretenses, representations, promises, or material omissions.
Bauer was never arrested or charged in connection with the sexual assault allegations made by Donaldson, who filed a lawsuit against him in 2022.
The charges against Donaldson stem from an investigation by the Pasadena Police Department. The district attorney's office declined to provide further details about the charges or the investigation.
Donaldson is scheduled to appear in court on October 10 to face the charges.
In a statement released through his attorney, Bauer said he is grateful for the charges against Donaldson and that he looks forward to clearing his name.
"I have maintained my innocence from the very beginning and I am eager to prove in court that these charges are false," Bauer said.
