Borussia Dortmund Held to a Draw by Mainz 05
FSV Mainz 05 held Borussia Dortmund to a 1-1 draw in the Bundesliga on Monday, extending their unbeaten run to five games.
The visitors took the lead through Giovanni Reyna in the first half, but Mainz 05 levelled through Marcus Ingvartsen just before the hour mark. The result leaves Dortmund third in the table, while Mainz 05 move up to 12th.
Dortmund were the better side in the first half and created a number of chances, but they were unable to add to their lead before the break. Mainz 05 improved after the break and were rewarded for their efforts when Ingvartsen equalised. The hosts could have even won the game late on, but they were denied by a brilliant save from Gregor Kobel.
The draw leaves Dortmund with a lot of work to do if they want to catch Bayern Munich at the top of the table. The Bavarians are now seven points clear of Dortmund and have a game in hand.
